Steiner Education is designed to enhance, enrich and support the developmental phases of childhood. Dr. Steiner referred particularly to three essential 7-year phases – different faculties are coming to birth, different growth forces are operating. To provide meaningful support for the child in the journey from infancy to adulthood, it is of the greatest importance that each stage is experienced fully and not cut short based on a deep comprehension of these phases.

This Biography Workshop will explore the significance of the essential stages of our own development with artistic exercises including eurythmy, dry pastel drawing and making a simple knotted doll, along with sharing and life-charting.

As we meet the challenges and blessings in our lives, working with the different art forms can bring new insights and a deeper understanding of our destiny as it unfolds. The threads of our lives form patterns within each of us and also between us in the larger scale of life, in relationships and community and all the circles of which we are a part. Through this process and the combination of biography and artistic work, we may come closer to realizing our future potential and harmonizing these threads as we develop new capacities for life.

Facilitators: Ben Cherry

Ben has been active in Anthroposophy and Waldorf education for over thirty years. He co-founded a Waldorf school in Australia in 1983 and has extensive experience of teaching at almost all levels of education. He has traveled widely and has connections with schools in many parts of the world. During the past 12 years he has been delivering Waldorf teacher training and public lectures on Waldorf education, as well as mentoring the school initiatives in many Asian countries

John Stolfo

born 1950 in the US and student of Anthroposophy since 1974. US Navy active sailor during the Vietnam conflict 1968-72, sea-going Merchant sailor 1972-74. Art professional since 1990 working as a master Lazure painter, muralist as well as organizer and leader of adult art classes and Lazure painting workshops. John has lectured for a number of years on various themes related to Anthroposophy and art. Member of the Anthroposophical Society since 1977 and School of Spiritual Science since 1981. Now permanently residing in Hong Kong.

Training Diplomas include Eurythmy 1986 from the London School of Eurythmy, Foundation Year 1974 and Waldorf Education 1978 from the Detroit Waldorf Institute, and a visual art course 1979 from the Rudolf Steiner College in Jarna, Sweden where he resided for 11 of his formative years.

華德福幼兒教師培訓課程 之四

生命史的研究 5月22、23日 9時15分 至 5時30分

人智學將人類生命本質歸結於身體、心靈、精神三種層次的結合。我們的成長歷程中有三個七年的週期。孩子不同階段的成長,可分別對應身體、情感、精神三個不同的成熟期;這三個七年的發展,又映照著生命往後的階段。在我個人來說,我是超前學習的例子,幼稚園高班時唸的是小一的課程,提早的智性學習和家族群的關係脈絡,在尋覓自我生命的道路上造成極大的障礙…… 多少人背負著父母期望下生活,半生過去,再新思索生命的方向。

過去二十年間個人成長工作坊大行其道,從 NLP到海靈格的家庭系統排列,都是讓我們重塑個人生命歷史、檢視家族對自身的關係,好好照顧我們內在的小孩,尋覓生命意義。

個人生命史回顧、探討生命的最初三個七年的發展階段,讓我們檢視自我的成長,與我們為人父母和作為孩子的老師,有著甚麼關聯?

藝術活動:音語舞,乾粉彩繪畫,手工藝(打結娃娃 knotted doll)

註:Thanh老師數度提醒我要加強手工的培訓,事實上,手工在幼稚園佔有很大的比重,涉及的類別繁多,跟 Ben老師商討後,決定在每天午飯後以半小時來完成一個打結娃娃。

導師

Benjamin Cherry本傑明老師是亞洲所有華德福學校的指導老師,過去在澳洲創辦了Bowral Waldorf School。他在台灣指導的慈心華德福教育實驗學校,是亞洲唯一公辦民營並已開展到三個一年級班和籌備高中,而作為成都華德福學校中小學教師培訓的主課老師,過去數年來滋養培育不少生命的成長、轉化,如今在國內已開辦和將開辦的華德福學校據我所知的就有十所。

John Stolfo於歐美多國修習教育、視覺藝術及音語舞。過去二十多年來專注牆面彩繪及繪畫壁畫,在歐美多國作專業彩繪及領導工作坊,2008年底移居香港,在香港及國內發展彩繪和人智學藝術課程。

人的本質和三個七年的成長歷程週期

身體的成熟:零至七歲兒童具有人類與生俱來的模仿能力,這個階段的孩子是發展身體(Body)與意志力的時期,經由對大人言行舉止優美的模仿,並在父母所提供溫暖、安全、自然美好的環境和規律生活中,讓孩子的身體得以健康的成長,建立起探索世界的基礎能力。

情感的成熟:七至十四歲強調心靈(Soul)、情感(Feeling)與創造性的想像空間,這個階段需要一個足以產生長久信賴與敬仰的權威,藉由藝術化的教學,引發孩 子學習的內在需求,使孩子具備自信、興趣和對生命安全感的滿足。在這樣的心理基礎下,孩子能在互相幫助的動手學習過程中,培養同情、容忍、合作與對社會的情感與愛。

精神的成熟:

十四至二十一歲(青少年期)的重點在於精神(Spirit)與思想(Thinking)的啟發。人的青少年時期是生命力活躍、情感充沛的反抗年代,是個人判斷力和獨立思考意識發展的時刻,老師透過朋友般的良好師生互動方式,引發青少年對世界與人類文明更進一步的興趣和探索。此時,專業而成熟的老師能帶引孩子邁向人類知識與精神的成熟發 展。

施泰納博士觀察人與大自然,發現萬物不僅有自己的位置,更有著規律的互動,人是萬物之一,當然不能自外於這個規律。因此,人成長的目標是逐漸瞭解自己在宇宙中的位置及角色,能掌握自己與天地、萬物、他人的關係運作,而成為有平衡生活的完整的人。

目前教育的主流趨勢是盡量讓孩子很快的擁有成人的能力,越早越好。但是,人智學的教育理念指出,孩子並不是成人的縮小版,而是一個潛在的成人,他是一個「正在成為」(becoming)的存在狀態,他在生理和心理的組合狀態上,都和成人不同。因此,試圖以成人的方式來教育他們是無用的,不論是用邏輯或者是推理的方式。過早的開發理性化思維,會使孩子們有限的生命力過早集中於大腦的發展,造成身體、心靈、情感、精神的整體發展失去平衡,是揠苗助長的行為。
